The Verge has discovered a posting on AngelList about a company called Ouya. Ouya is focused on building a $99 console that is based on Android, which can be connected to a TV. Yves Behar is part of the Ouya team.
Any developer will be able to set up their own games on Ouya and all of the games will be free to play. The hardware is “built to be hacked.” Every customer that buys a retail box will get a dev kit.
Advisors in the project include Ed Fries (Xbox), Amol Sarva (Peek), Peter Pham (Color), and Julie Uhrman (IGN). Uhrman is the founder and CEO of Ouya. Muffi Ghadiali is also on the roster, who is known for helping ship the Amazon Kindle.
