Clinkle is a payments startup company that has raised $25 million in seed funding from Andreessen Horowitz, Peter Thiel, Diane Greene, Jim Breyer, Marc Benioff and Owen Van Natta.
Clinkle was founded by CEO Lucas Duplan when he was 19 years old (3 years ago) at Stanford University. Clinkle has plans to release an application for university students this year.
While at Stanford, Duplan encouraged several of his classmates to join the company. They now have about 50 employees. The company is still in stealth mode, but we know that they will focus on disrupting how transactions will be made. The company will use social features and is aiming at college students initially.
