PayPal exec Rocky Agrawal insults co-workers on Twitter on his way out

PayPal director of strategy Rakesh “Rocky” Agrawal went on Twitter to insult some of his fellow employees. The tweets he wrote started at 1AM yesterday. Within hours of this happening, PayPal said that Agrawal is no longer at the company. Agrawal said that he quit his job at PayPal before he published those tweets.

Agrawal was at the Jazz Fest in New Orleans when he started calling out PayPal employees. Agrawal said that PayPal’s VP of global communications Christina Smedley is a “useless middle manager” and a “piece of s—.”

This isn’t the first time that Agrawal said something related to PayPal was a “piece of s—.” He wrote a blog post on PayPal a year ago calling the company’s point-of-sale service a “piece of s—.” Later that night, Agrawal tweeted “Oh. I quit [PayPal] tonight.” He apologized to PayPal president David Marcus and VP of growth and global strategy Stan Chudnovsky. He posted a picture of himself saying “Day one of my next adventure? I am so ducking tired.”

Agrawal tweeted that the messages were intended for a colleague. He says that he was testing a new phone and thought he was sending direct messages (DMs), which are private.

“Rakesh Agrawal is no longer with the company. Treat everyone with respect. No excuses. PayPal has zero tolerance,” said PayPal on its Twitter account.
