PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel may invest around $150 million in Airbnb in a deal that would value the company at $2.5 billion.  The Wall Street Journal reported the potential deal on Friday.  Mr. Thiel sold his stock in Facebook for around $400 million, which is a hefty return from his initial $500,000 investment.

Last month we found out that Airbnb was set to a much higher value after Paul Graham wrote a blog post.

In August 2012, Airbnb hit the 60,000 lodges booked in one day milestone.  In July 2012, Airbnb hired the team from DailyBooth.  Last year, Airbnb raised around $110 million in funding from Andreessen Horowitz and General Catalyst Partners.
