PicHit.Me is a photo marketplace service that has raised $3 million in funding led by Almi Invest. Based in Sweden, PicHit.Me was founded in 2012 and has collaborated with companies like Microsoft, Nokia, and UKTI to target office workers as their audience. PicHit.Me helps spruce up PowerPoint presentations with interesting images. PicHit.Me was founded by Mathias Björkholm, Henrik Bergqvist and Mattias Brodén and they aim to fight image piracy.
PicHit.Me costs $15 per user per month and there is a freemium option with the restriction of photo requests that take longer to be delivered. The PicHit.Me marketplace allows anyone to create photo assignments and is available for anyone that want to contribute photos to be rewarded for their work that gets used. There is a competition element for being rewarded if your image is the one that is chosen by the user.
PicHit.Me takes 40% of the revenues, contributors share 20% of the total, and the remaining 40% is based on how much an individual photographer’s images are used. PicHit.Me is used by tens of thousands of users.
