Pinterest Acquires Punchfork and Shuts It Down

Posted Jan 3, 2013

Pinterest has acquired recipe discovery website Punchfork.  Punchfork started two and a half years ago and the company and the website will run for a short amount of time longer.  However the Punchfork website, API, and mobile apps will be shut down soon.

Punchfork’s founder and only employee Jeff Miller will work on improving Pinterest.  Punchfork looks similar to Pinterest, but it is focused specifically on cooking.  Punchfork allows users to find some of the best recipes from cooking websites.

Punchfork also helps you filter by ingredients or dietary preferences.  Before starting Punchfork, Jeff Miller worked as an angel investor, developer, and hedge fund trader.  The amount that Pinterest acquired the company for is undisclosed.
