Pinterest hits 30 billion total Pins

Posted Apr 26, 2014

Earlier this week, Pinterest CEO Ben Silbermann announced that users contributed over 30 billion Pins since the service was founded.

This number increased by nearly 50% in the past 6 months. Pinterest users have created over 750 million boards in that time. Part of this growth was driven by Related Pins.

Over 90% of Pins have Related Pins connected to them and the number of people that repine Related Pins has grown by 20%. Silbermann compared Pinterest to curation in other forms like art being selected for museums, photos/articles in magazines, and clothing collections at retail locations.
