You may remember how David Thorpe was able to successfully set up a campaign that would have rapper Pitbull sent to Kodiak, Alaska. Pitbull hosted a competition where the Wal-Mart Facebook Page for an individual store that would hit the highest number of fans would be promised a visit from him.
Thorpe started an Internet campaign to have Pitbull sent to Kodiak, Alaska. After receiving thousands of fans, the Kodiak, Alaska Walmart Facebook Page won the competition and Pitbull kept his word.
He invited Thorpe to come with him too. Pitbull spent the day visiting residents in Kodiak, an island with a population of 6,100. During the visit, he performed at the local Coast Guard base and posted pictures of signs warning of bears in the area. “Thank U Kodiak … I am honored, truly,” wrote Pitbull on Twitter.
In the photo above with Thorpe, Pitbull posted the quote “keep your friends close, and your enemies closer.” Walmart’s Kodiak Twitter page also posted a photo of Pitbull receiving a Kodiak survival kit, which included brown boots, bear bells, and bear repellent.
