Pixate has raised $3.8 million in Series A funding from Accel Partners. Based in Palo Alto, Pixate will be expanding their engineering and support teams. The company is going to build Mac and Android versions of their platform, which lets developers style applications using CSS.
Pixate is also going to focus on increasing the quality of its support and improve their developer resources. They will also be releasing a full version of Pixate Engine for free. Pixate also announced that they are going to launch Pixate Labs, which is going to host beta versions of Pixate and prototypes of experiments. Pixate 1.0 for iOS launched this past January.
Pixate raised their seed round of funding from Y Combinator and also raised $60,000 through Kickstarter. Half of that amount came from strategic investors like Walmart Labs, Appcelerator, and Grupo.mobi. Each of those companies put in $10,000 each, which is the donation limit on Kickstarter.
