Microsoft and Pizza Hut have worked together on launching an Xbox Live app that lets users order pizza directly from the Xbox 360 console. The Xbox app shows Pizza Hut’s menu and lets users customize their toppings and sides. The order can be put together using Kinect motion controls, voice commands, and the Xbox controller. Users can also link their Xbox and PizzaHut.com accounts to save their order settings to make future orders faster and find deals at their local restaurants.
The Pizza Hut Xbox app will also have Facebook integration so that users can share the choices that they made for their pizza on the Facebook News Feed. This is the first Xbox app of its kind where gaming players can purchase physical goods using a dedicated app from a console.
“We’re always looking at ways to give our audience more of what they’re interested in,” said Larry Hryb, Director of Programming for Xbox Live, in an interview with Polygon. “If you look at our audience, they love pizza. I mean, who doesn’t? It has international appeal, and Pizza Hut is a recognized brand that matches up well with the Xbox brand.”
People that use the Pizza Hut app on the Xbox before May 6th will get 15% off their first purchase.
