Powermat and PowerKiss are two wireless power companies that have agreed to combine their companies under Powermat Technologies. The companies plan to settle the issue of conflicting standards within the wireless power industry. Powermat and PowerKiss used incompatible standards in the past, but both were committed to the same PMA standard, which is backed by AT&T, Starbucks, Procter & Gamble, and many other companies.
Powermat is used in 1,500 charging spots across the U.S. including airports, coffee shops, arenas, and malls. PowerKiss is used in 1,000 charging spots in airports, hotels, coffee shops, and McDonalds across Europe. The combined companies are aimed at enabling a consistent wireless charging experience for people across the world.
