Tonight President Obama will be giving his State of the Union address. When watching the State of the Union, you may notice that it will have social media integrated into it like never before. “When the President addresses the nation, the White House will provide something you can’t find anywhere else: an enhanced version of the speech that offers charts, facts and other info as the President speaks,” said Macon Phillips on the White House blog. The enhanced version of the address will be streamed on YouTube, Google+, Facebook, Hulu, UStream, iPhone apps, iPad apps, and Android apps.
The White House also launched a tool called Citizen Response, which will take highlights from the speech and share them online. People can use hashtags like #SOTU and #WHCHAT to follow the conversation on Twitter. After the speech, a panel of senior staff will host a Q&A session. After that, you can watch President Obama host a “Fireside Hangout” on Google+.
