Prince, the popular funk/R&B singer, filed a $22 million lawsuit against bloggers that allegedly posted footage of his concerts online. The lawsuit was filed less than 2 weeks ago.
He filed the lawsuit against 22 anonymous bloggers ($1 million each) for posting concert footage on Facebook and other websites without his permission. The lawsuit was demised without prejudice so he could refile the lawsuit if he wants.
“Because of the recent pressure, the bootleggers have now taken down the illegal downloads and are no longer engaging in piracy,” said Prince’s lawyer in a statement to TMZ. “We recognize the fans craving for as much material as possible, but we?d prefer they get it from us directly than from third parties who are scalpers rather than real fans of our work.”
