Sony Corporation (TYO:6758) has sold over 6 million PlayStation 4 consoles worldwide as of March 2nd. The number of consoles sold in Japan was at 370,000 since launched there on February 22nd. This surpasses the goal that Sony set in September of last year.
According to NPD, the PlayStation 4 is selling faster than the Xbox One by around two-to-one. But Microsoft took credit for selling more games across the Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Sony said that their software sales surpassed 13.7 million copies worldwide through retail stores and digital downloads on the PlayStation Store as of March 2nd. The PlayStation app is available on the iPhone and Android and has been installed over 3.6 million times on March 2nd.
