Pure Storage raises $225 million

Pure Storage has raised $225 million in funding from T. Rowe Price Associates, Inc., Tiger Global, Wellington Management Company, Greylock Partners, Index Ventures, Redpoint Ventures, and Sutter Hill Ventures. The company now has a pre-money valuation at over $3 billion. 

Pure Storage is known for manufacturing fast-acting flash-storage boxes for data centers. The company believes that its flash drives have better performance over hard disk drives for storing and retrieving data.

Pure Storage competes against companies like EMC, NetApp, and Violin Memory. After this funding round, Pure Storage has now raised around $470 million total.
