Quora is a popular question and answer service that has raised $80 million in funding, according to VentureBeat. Quora raised the funding to remain independent, fund infrastructure, and enhance quality. Quora is also aiming to go international on a large-scale. The website will soon support other languages.

Quora compared data found on its website to Wikipedia. ?80 to 90 percent of Quora?s content is evergreen ? it stays valuable forever. When we become the best place on the Internet to read about Shakespeare, that?s good forever and ever,? said Quora’s head of business operations Marc Bodnick in the VentureBeat interview. “We’re building this library like Wikipedia.”

Quora said that there are numerous ways to contribute content, but the website will maintain its core focus on questions and answers. Quora has 500,000 topics live on its website and 40% of the traffic is from mobile devices.

The investors in this round include Tiger Global, Benchmark Capital, Matrix, North Bridge, and Peter Thiel.
