Ice and DJ Pooh have teamed up with Microsoft to put together an online TV network called UNVTV.com. The web site will be using Microsoft Silverlight for its programming, not the usual Adobe Flash that YouTube depends on.Â
“We are thrilled to work with Ice Cube and DJ Pooh, both whom have proven track records and have been at the forefront in music, film and television,” stated John Case, GM of Microsoft’s Developer Division. “We see UNVTV as a leading example of the changing landscape of how consumers experience entertainment, and how the industry is seeking new interactive platforms to better reach their target audiences. By using Silverlight, UVNTV will have the capabilities needed to take the user experience to another level.”
The interface looks very similar to MySpace, but the channels are specifically revolve around a hip-hop genre. Some of the channels that UVNTV include Snoopadelic TV by Snoop Doggy Dogg, Christian Audigier’s Live TV, and Ice Cube’s Hip Hop 24/7.Â
UVNTV.com also has a social network built-in. Users can create profiles and submit show ideas. Users will also be able to sign out for production gig try-outs. The site will be fully launching in a few months.
