RealNetworks has acquired social casino game company Slingo for $15.6 million. Slingo will be rolled into RealNetworks’ GameHouse casual gaming division. It is unknown what will happen with Zynga’s partnership with Slingo for the Slingo game on Facebook. Slingo runs games on Slingo.com as well. Slingo and Zynga’s game on Facebook currently has 4.5 million monthly players. Launched in 1995, Slingo is owned by Sal Falciglia.
Slingo has been one of the most popular games on the Internet for the last several years. Slingo is also available in the form of a game in a slot machine. The game was not available on Facebook until Zynga launched the Zynga Slingo game last year. People have spent over $1 billion on Slingo total so far.
