Renaissance Learning receives funding at a $1B valuation

Renaissance Learning is an education technology company that has received $40 million in funding from Google Capital. Google Capital bought a minority stake in the company, which values Renaissance Learning at $1 billion.

Renaissance Learning is owned by British private equity company Permira. Renaissance Learning offers cloud-based education software such as reading and assessment tools. Around 20 million students and teachers use the service.

Google Capital launched in 2013 and invests in technology companies. Some of their investments include SurveyMonkey and Lending Club.
