Report: Apple Is Testing iPhones and iPads With Larger Screens

Posted Jul 22, 2013

According to The Wall Street Journal, Apple is in a testing phase for iPhones and iPads with larger screens.  Apple is testing an iPad that is 13 inches, which is several inches bigger than the standard iPad size of 10 inches.  The WSJ reportedly spoke with Apple suppliers in Asia.  These suppliers said that Apple asked for prototypes of screens that are bigger than 4 inches for the iPhone.

Apple is known for constantly testing out different designs.  Prototypes of larger iPhones and iPads could be tossed out entirely so take this information with a grain of salt.

Last month, Reuters reported that Apple is considering iPhones that have 4.7-inch and 5.7-inch screens with different colors.  Those devices may cost as low as $99.  When Apple introduced the iPhone 5 last year, the screen size was increased from the original iPhone.

The newest version of the iPhone is expected to be announced in September and is rumored to have a fingerprint sensor.
