Apple supplier Foxconn Electronics is planning to establish manufacturing plants in the United States. The company is looking at locations in Detroit and Los Angeles according to people in the industry. Supposedly these plants would focus on LCD TV production, which would be highly automated and easier than the production of the iPhone 5.
Foxconn chairman Terry Gou spoke at a public event recently where he revealed that the company will be launching a training program for U.S. based engineers to bring them into Taiwan or China for product design and manufacturing training. Foxconn is currently in discussions with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to work out that program.
