Instagram is now beating Twitter in daily active users (DAUs) on mobile devices. This started in August for the first time according to comScore. Instagram had around 7.3 million daily mobile users for the month while Twitter had around 6.9 million. comScore is not really known for having 100% accuracy, but this can definitely serve as an indication that Instagram is growing at a rapid pace.
comScore’s data said that Instagram’s daily active user count has grown ten-fold in the six-month period starting in March. Back then, they had around 886,000 daily active visitors.
Twitter had more unique monthly visitors in August than Instagram, but a large chunk of them failed to return on a daily basis. Twitter visitors spent less time on average viewing content than visitors to Instagram. Each of Instagram’s mobile users spent around 257 minutes using the app. Twitter users spent around 169.9 minutes on the app. This data was compiled by comScore’s Mobile Metrix 2.0. Facebook acquired Instagram for $1 billion in April 2012.
