REPORT: Microsoft Spending Over $1 Billion On Windows 8 Marketing Budget

Posted Oct 12, 2012

Microsoft is planning to create a huge marketing campaign about Windows 8.  Another estimate suggests that Microsoft will be spending between $1.5 and $1.8 billion.  This is around triple the amount that Microsoft spent on the Windows 7 launch two years ago.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the ad campaign will be launching this weekend starting with Windows 8 PCs and tablets.  Microsoft is working with ad agency Crispin Porter + Bogusky for Windows 8 ads.

Microsoft is launching the Windows 8 operating system on October 26th.  As part of the launch, we will see some holiday pop-up stores showing up in U.S. cities across the nation to purchase the Surface tablets at midnight.
