Pegatron, one of Apple’s suppliers in Asia, has reportedly received orders for an inexpensive iPhone with a plastic chassis and a next-generation iPad mini.  The shipments will start in August according to a report from Taiwan-based supply chain companies.

Apple shipped around 37.4 million iPhones and 19.5 million iPads in the first quarter.  The iPad Mini saw around 12 million units and the 9.7-inch iPad hit about 7 million.

Apple’s sub-tier suppliers will start shipping components for the new iPad and iPhone starting in July.  Chassis supplier Casetek is going to do very well from these orders.  There has been reports that a next-generation iPhone and 9.7-inch iPad would be coming in early 2014.  These devices will be manufactured by Foxconn (Hon Hai Precision Industry).
