Samsung Electronics is acquiring German next-generation lighting company Novaled AG, according to The WSJ. Samsung is reportedly offering over $200 million, which values Novaled at about 10 times their total revenues of ?17 million ($22.5 million) in 2011.
Novaled was founded in 2001 by Fraunhofer Institute and the Technical University of Dresden. The company makes OLEDs in displays and lighting and Samsung is one of their largest customers.
Samsung acquired around a 10% stake in Novaled a couple of years ago. Novaled currently has 130 employees.
