Posted Mar 22, 2014

Rhapsody has announced it is ending its partnership with The Echo Nest, which was acquired by Spotify a few weeks ago. Rhapsody said it was never completely satisfied with recommendations from any third party and is going to develop its own music personalization service.

Earlier this month, Rdio announced it is also going to end the partnership with The Echo Nest. Microsoft uses Echo Nest for Xbox Music and will continue its partnership.

The Echo Nest is a personal DJ service that creates playlists based on the preferences of the user. The Echo Nest helps music services and ad networks target ads based on a user’s preference as well.
