Rhapsody Steps Into Shazam’s Territory With SongMatch App

Posted Dec 6, 2012

Rhapsody has launched a free Android app called SongMatch.  The SongMatch app will be competing head-on against the very popular song-identifying application company Shazam.  The Rhapsody SongMatch app can identify a song after listening to it for a few seconds just like Shazam.

Rhapsody’s app uses the content recognition technology created by Gracenote.  When identifying a song, users can learn more about that artist and play the song if they have the Rhapsody Android app installed.

This is Rhapsody’s way of trying to grab more subscribers.  Rhapsody wrote that that are planning to publish more  ?purpose-built music apps? in the next several months.
