Rikers Island Inmate Shaheed Bilal Scammed $1 Million Worth of iPads and Macs

Shaheed Bilal is a Rikers Island inmate that forged credit cards to buy about $1 million worth of iPads and Mac laptops. Then he instructed his girlfriend and younger brothers on how to encode the magnetic strips on credit cards with stolen financial information. The iPads and Macs were then sold at a discount. About 27 members of Bilal’s gang was charged in the three year operation, including Bilal’s girlfriend Ophelia “Philly” Alleyne. The scam ran across 13 states and in D.C. [NY Daily News]
