Robotic Crawler Designed To Help Humans Escape From Earthquakes

Posted Feb 27, 2009

Yokohama’s robotic crawler was designed to carry a human from a disaster area to safety.  This would be especially useful for situations like an earthquake or tornado.  This device has four wheel belts and can easily move through rubble and other obstacles.  It can carry a person that weighs a max of about 250lbs.  The crawler has infrared cameras that allow it to be used during harsh weather and at night time.  And the crawler constantly measures the blood flow and other vital signs of the passenger.
