Ron Johnson Says He Wants To Eliminate Cash Register Employees By 2013 With Use Of RFID

Ron Johnson, the CEO of JCPenney, spoke at Fortune’s Brainstorm Tech conference in Aspen, Colorado.  Johnson said that he wants to eliminate employees that stand at the cash registers by the end of 2013.  He is pushing for mobile check-out and self check-out.  The stores will be 100% RFID and will work on WiFi.  JCPenney would then reinvest these savings into customer service.  This means that customers will not have to wait in lines anymore.  This would likely lead to massive amounts of job cuts at the giant retailer.
