The European Investment Bank (EIB) is providing Rovio with 25 million euros in financing to boost development of its mobile gaming platform. Rovio, the company behind Angry Birds, is one of the first investments by the EIB’s program to give loans to innovative startups for spurring growth.

Europe is known for its lack of risk capital available to technology ventures and startups.

The EIB wants to change that. The new financial instruments will be provided by the EIB and the European Commission on June 12th.
