Android 4.0 has not been widely as adopted as Google is expected so it is rumored that the company will be launching Android 5.0 (Jelly Bean) in Q2 2012. The Android 5.0 operating system would compete head-on with Windows 8 for the tablet PC market according to Asian suppliers for the two companies.
Android 5.0 will be optimized for tablets while Google will also integrate the Chrome operating system for laptops. Brand vendors would be able to either adopt only Android 5.0 or add Android 5.0 to Windows 8 devices with the ability to switch between the two operating systems without having to shut down the computer.
The problem Google faces is that because Android 4.0 did not do as well as expected, several of Google’s downstream partners are hesitant about Android 5.0.
