Salesforce.com, Inc. (NYSE:CRM) is launching a new customer relationship development platform for social media and mobile devices called Salesforce1, which is going to be available later this week. The platform will be announced at Dreamforce conference in San Francisco this week.
The Force.com services have been around for a while, but the Salesforce1 is a rebranding of the same technology. Salesforce1 has 10 times as many APIs along with new components for building user interfaces, according to Michael Peachey, Salesforce.com’s senior director of solutions marketing in an interview with PCWorld.
Salesforce1 has a new mobile application that gives customers a unified way for using Salesforce.com’s applications. Salesforce1 users can access custom applications that were built and the ones that they purchased from partners through the Salesforce.com AppExchange.
The Salesforce1 service allows users to take actions like being able to remotely reset password, deactivate users, and receive information about scheduled maintenance from Salesforce.com.
?We handle packaging, identity, scale, all of it,? stated Mike Rosenbaum, senior vice president of platform operations at Salesforce.com. ?We are empowering hundreds of thousands of companies to go mobile.?
All Salesforce.com customers will be upgraded automatically to the new platform. Salesforce.com CEO Marc Benioff is expected to talk about the new platform during his keynote on Tuesday at Dreamforce.
