Salsify is a cloud-based startup company that has raised $8 million in funding.  Matrix Partners and North Bride Venture Partners this round of funding.

Salsify enables manufacturers, retailers, and distributors to input data and track products as it spreads across the Internet.  Salsify has tools for collaborative workflow and allows retailers to make edits.

?Companies with big enough budgets to even start thinking about addressing product content management typically spend six-to-seven figures per year on an enterprise software solution that cannot keep up with the pace of change in the marketplace, and don?t even try to address the problem of easily sharing content between organizations,? stated Salsify CEO and co-founder Jason Purcell. ?We?re taking a very different, decentralized approach that makes managing product content exponentially easier and faster and, for the first time, collaborative across the supply chain, so that anyone who sells online can benefit.?

Salsify is based in Boston and their team has a lot of experience in powering top e-commerce websites in the world.  The company chose the name salsify because the plant is a cousin to the dandelion.  The salsify plant is low maintenance and spreads like wildfire.
