Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (005930) Gets Sued By Dyson

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (KRX:005930) has been hit with a lawsuit from vacuum company Dyson.  Dyson claims that Samsung uses their patented vacuum-steering system in their own Motion Sync vacuum cleaner, which was announced at IFA this week.

“This looks like a cynical rip-off,” stated Dyson founder Sir James Dyson. “Samsung has many patent lawyers, so I find it hard not to believe that this is a deliberate or utterly reckless infringement of our patent.”

Samsung is not the first company that Dyson filed a lawsuit against.  Dyson has also sued Hoover in the past.  Dyson sued Samsung back in 2009 and a court said that Samsung infringed on a Dyson vacuuming mechanism.

Dyson said Samsung stole ideas from a 2009 patent on a fast-steering system that will let vacuums swivel easily instead of having to make turns on wheels.
