Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (KRX:005930) is combining their mobile and camera divisions to bring more wireless connectivity to their cameras and to improve the imaging in their smartphones. Samsung has a goal of finding ways to innovate in the imaging market.
Some of Samsung’s competitors have been strengthening the cameras in their devices. For example, HTC stuck an “UltraPixel” in their One line of phones. Nokia also highlighted imaging capabilities in the Lumia 1020 and Lumia 1520 devices.
“We will transplant the brand, sales networks, software competency and manufacturing competitiveness of the Wireless Business Division into the Camera Business Division, and integrate the technical know-how of the two business divisions into competency for differentiating our smartphones,” said Samsung in a statement.
