Samsung announces Galaxy S5 with fingerprint reader and heart-rate sensor

Today Samsung announced the Galaxy S5 smartphone. The design of the device is very similar to the Galaxy S4, but the new model is slightly larger. It has a 5.1-inch screen and high-resolution 1080p display. The S5 also has a 16-megapixel camera. The two high-tech features built into the S5 is a fingerprint reader and heart-rate sensor. The S5 still has the same plastic shell, casing, and backing.

The S5 has a 2.5GHz Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor and 2800mAh removable battery. On a single charge, the S5 stays running for 21 hours and 16 days of standby time. The S5 also has a 16-megapixel camera with faster autofocus.

The S5 can transfer data faster through a USB 3.0 connection. The S5 storage can be expanded through a micro-SD card of up to 64GB. The operating system of the S5 is Android 4.4.2 KitKat. The S5 also supports Samsung Knox and S Voice.

The fingerprint reader is embedded in the home button of the device. The S5 will start shipping in April.
