Samsung Electronics is reportedly building a virtual reality headset to compete against companies like Oculus VR, which was recently acquired by Facebook. The new headset may be ready by the end of the year. The Oculus Rift virtual reality headset shows two screens in front of your eyes that show slightly different video images, creating a 3D effect. There are a couple sensors that detect your head movements so that it feels like you are moving around in space.

Samsung gave prototypes of the headset to several game developers. The prototypes run on Samsung Galaxy devices.

The Samsung virtual reality headset reportedly had supply chain issues in the past so the project has been integrated into the mobile division at the company.
