Samsung Electronics is suing LG Display in court in South Korea. Samsung is seeking the invalidation of OLED patents that are held by LG Display. Samsung said that there were 7 patents granted to LG Display that should be considered invalid since they “lack innovation.”
This past September, LG Display filed a similar lawsuit against Samsung claiming a violation of the seven patents. In LG’s lawsuit, they are seeking an unspecified amount in damages and a permanent injunction of five infringing products including the Galaxy S III, the Galaxy Tab 7.7 tablet, and the Galaxy Note.
Earlier this year, 11 current and former Samsung Mobile employees at Samsung Mobile were arrested for allegedly stealing and leaking details to LG about a Samsung AMOLED TV. Six of LG’s workers were also allegedly involved in stealing Samsung’s OLED technology.
