At the Samsung Electronics Analyst Day, the company revealed that they are working on devices that have fully foldable screens with a large number of pixels. Samsung will also release “bended displays” starting next year and “foldable” screens in the year after. Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Round about a month ago.
In a slide released by Samsung (below), the company showed that they are planning to release devices with increased screen resolutions all the way up to 4K. Samsung is going to produce 2560×1440 displays by 2014 and high-definition 4K displays (3840×2160) by 2015.
Samsung shipped over 100 million Galaxy S and Galaxy Note units this year.
Samsung will be referring to large display phones that have a stylus and handwriting support as a “fonblet.” Yup that is a pretty odd term, but we better get used to it.
