Samsung Pushing For 350ppi To Beat Apple’s Retina Display

Posted Jul 30, 2012

Samsung Electronics has started building a new AMOLED display that is rumored to be better than the Retina Displays used by Apple.  Retina display is related to pixel density.  Samsung is able to create higher density displays because of advances in Fine Metal Mask production techniques.  A release date for the new displays are not yet known.  Samsung wants to push for 350ppi.  The APple iPad has 264 pip and the iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, and iPod Touch models have 326ppi.  Samsung indicates that the Laser-Induced Thermal Imaging technique is to difficult to scale up without encountering issues when building the displays.  [BGR]
