Samsung Electronics is breaking ground for their $300 million headquarters in San Jose, California. The new building is designed by architecture firm NBBJ. The headquarters has two ten-story towers, a parking garage, cafes, a fitness center, a pavilion, etc.
“A courtyard will connect the building together, creating a central gathering place,” stated NBBJ. “In a rarity for high-rise workspace, each Samsung employee will be no further than one floor away from green space.”
The new headquarters is expected to be completed by 2015. The new Samsung offices will be located at North First and East Tasman Drive, which is 20 minutes away from their largest rival, Apple.
This is not the first major office that Samsung will have present in Silicon Valley. The company also opened the Samsung Strategy and Innovation Center on Sand Hill Road in Menlo Park, California. Samsung also has a venture capital arm there called Catalyst Fund.
