Samsung Electronics has shipped 27.8 million smartphones and Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) shipped 17.1 million smartphones in the last quarter. According to U.K.-based Strategy Analytics spokesperson Milton Keynes, this gives Samsung 23.8% of the market and this gives Apple a 14.6% of the market. Nokia is in third place.
?Samsung?s rise has been driven by a blend of elegant hardware designs, popular Android services, memorable sub-brands and extensive global distribution,? wrote Strategy Analytics. ?Samsung has demonstrated that it is possible, at least in the short term, to differentiate and grow by using the Android ecosystem.?
