Former Motorola Mobility head Sanjay Jha gets named CEO of GlobalFoundries

GlobalFoundries is a chip maker that has named Sanjay Jha as CEO. Jha used to be the head of Motorola Mobility. GlobalFoundries is preparing to invest $9 to $10 billion in the next two years.

Jha oversaw Motorola’s sale to Google. Jha is replacing Ajit Manocha. Manocha was appointed CEO in the middle of 2011, but is now working as an adviser to GlobalFoundries owner Advanced Technology Investment Company.

Jha will be in charge of the building of a new facility in Malta, New York along with upgrades to facilities in Singapore and Germany.
