VMware Hires Sanjay Poonen As EVP and GM Of End-User Computing Division

Virtualization and cloud infrastructure company VMware, Inc. has named Sanjay Poonen as the  EVP and general manager of the company’s End-User Computing business unit.  Poonen will oversee strategy, products, engineering, and delivery across VMware’s end-user computing solutions in this position.

“Sanjay brings a wealth of software industry experience that will be key to VMware’s success as we drive further growth in our end-user computing business,” stated VMware Pat Gelsinger. “As VMware continues its strategic focus on the software-defined data center, hybrid cloud and end-user computing, we continue to strengthen our executive bench. Poonen previously worked as the president and corporate officer of Platform Solutions and the Mobile Division at SAP AG.  While spending 7 years at SAP, Poonen worked in the SAP’s analytics business and led the company’s platform solutions analytics, database, big data, and mobility initiatives.
