Sarah Slocum of San Francisco was allegedly attacked and robbed because she was wearing Google Glass in a bar on Friday night. Sarah Slocum told CBS that she was demonstrating how to use Google Glass with another bar patron. This is when two women confronted her and a man at the bar tore the Google Glass device off of her face. She was able to get the device back.
Her smartphone, purse, and wallet were also stolen during the confrontation and those items have not been retrieved. “I got verbally and physically assaulted and robbed because of some wanker Google Glass haters,” said Slocum on Facebook. Slocum was accused of “destroying the city.”
Slocum was wearing Google Glass at Molotov’s bar. Witness at the bar said that Slocum was friendly. Molotov is a non-tech oriented punk rock bar. Apparently Slocum was “running around very excited” as the bar was getting ready to close.
“I think everybody was just upset that she would be recording outside of a bar this late with obviously embarrassing behavior going on around her, and just rather insulted that someone thinks it’s OK to record them the entire time they’re in public,” said a witness.
Last month, a man entered a movie theater wearing Google Glass and was pulled out by Homeland Security.
