Seagate Technology is investing $40 million into Virident.  Through the investment, Seagate and Virident have struck a strategic partnership.  Seagate will get more flash-based storage options and a board seat at the company.

Virident will get access to Seagate’s storage channels.  Seagate will be able to offer Virident’s flash-PCIe storage products going forward.  The two companies will be working together to build solid-state hardware and software products.

Based in Milpitas, California, Virident designs and builds Storage Class Memory (SCM) solutions.  The company started in June 2006 and previously raised funding from Artiman Ventures, Accel India, and Spansion.  The company’s first NAND flash based product tachIOn was announced in June 2010.
