Cigital has raised $50 million in funding.  Cigital helps customers design and maintain secure software.  Cigital considers themselves as one of the largest software security firms.  Cigital has eight patents.

One of their products is SecureAssist, which offers “just-in-time” coding guidance to developers by identifying security bugs as code is being written.  Cigital’s customers include the Department of Energy, the Department of Homeland Security, DARPA, the FDIC, etc.

Cigital was founded in 1992 and they have received funding and contracts from DARPA and NASA.  Cigital created one of the first static analysis tools, which lets companies and organizations monitor software performance without running the software.

LLR Partners led this round of funding.  The funding will be used for supporting growth in existing markets.
