Posted Feb 7, 2014

Sega has announced a new game called “Sonic Boom.” Sonic Boom will include a video game, new CG-animated TV series, and a new set of toys. The new game will arrive on the Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo 3DS this year.

All of the characters have been redesigned. You will see that Sonic has long legs and has a hipster-like brown scarf. Amy looks similar, but Tails has a new utility belt. Knuckles has some muscles on him now and grew much taller.

Sonic Boom will be the third and final Sonic game released exclusively on Nintendo platforms after the two companies signed a deal last year. The Wii U version is being produced by Big Red Button Entertainment. Sanzaru Games was be producing the 3DS version. Sega said that the game will have the usually speed game play, combat, and exploration. The Wii U version of the game will likely have 4-player cooperative play.

The TV series will include 52 episodes at 11 minutes each and is being co-produced by OuiDO! Productions and Sega of America. It will air on Cartoon Network in America between 2014 and 2015. Sega is working with Tomy on the release of the new Sonic plush tools, action figures, and RC vehicles.
