Pearl Malkin is an 89 year old that has raised $3,606 from 154 backers on Kickstarter for her project called Happy Canes. Malkin decorates canes with flowers that she hand glues herself. Malkin came up with the idea for the project when she had vertigo and needed to balance with a cane. After going to buy a cane, she wanted to make it look better. This is when her grandson decided to help her build a Kickstarter page.
“I want to be an example to young and old people that age shouldn’t be a barrier for what you want to do in life,” said Malkin.
Malkin plans to use the funding on Kickstarter to buy a wire cutter since the scissors hurts her hands. She will also be increasing the quality of the flowers that she uses for decorating the canes.
